By Robert Pierson.
In December, 1966 we had a family reunion at our home in Washington, D.C. For the first time both of our sons and their families were all with us. It was a blessed experience to be together. Mrs. Pierson and I had looked forward to and planned for this day. How wonderful to have all the children and all of the grandchildren with us!
There is another family reunion scheduled for the very near future. This will be a the second coming of Jesus when the family of earth becomes the family of heaven.
In the fourteenth chapter of John, Jesus makes it very clear that He is loath to be separated from his loved ones. He longs to have His earthbound children with Him in that heavenly home which He has gone to prepare for those who love Him.
“I go to prepare a place for you,” He says in accents tender, “and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:2,3.
What a glorious day that will be – all the family of God together, never to part! No more partings, no more sad goodbyes, no more long separations, for God’s loved ones will be together for eternity. What a privilege to be numbered with the redeemed when the saints go marching home! The Apostle Paul says, “The whole creation is on tiptoe to see the wonderful sight of the sons of God coming into their own.” Romans 8:19, Phillips.
By God’s grace and with His help, I am determined to be among God’s redeemed ones on that glorious day! If we plan to be part of the family of God in heaven, we must be part of the family of God on earth. The Savior extends to each of us a loving invitation to become part of that great family today.
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20.
Will you let him in just n ow?
